More competitive businesses due to green economy

Investissement Québec has just launched the Competivert program, an initiative that comes at the right time and which aims to increase the competitiveness of businesses by adopting clean technologies and eco-responsible practices.

The pandemic has changed our lives for a year now and has highlighted the urgency of reviewing our business models. We are now at the point where we must adopt concrete solutions to revive our economy in a sustainable and responsible manner. Competivert follows this direction by offering creative financing solutions and support and tools to facilitate the implementation of projects that will improve the environmental performance of companies. The program targets $ 375 billion in funding over a three-year period (2021-2024. It is now recognized that companies that go green find themselves in a more advantageous position: They look better with investors, position themselves better among consumers and are also seen better by their employees, who are easier to recruit and mobilize. In addition, the green economy also brings new business opportunities, both in the Quebec market and in the international, since this shift allows these companies to differentiate themselves from major contractors who now include responsible sourcing clauses in their calls for tenders.

In short, with Competivert, Investissement Québec is providing the necessary impetus for local businesses to pick up the pace and stand out even more. Let’s hope that many of our companies will seize this opportunity and gain access in large numbers to all these support tools and financing solutions offered under this program by our government.
